Karen Kochies is a wife and mother of two boys, and it is her family that actually led her to pursue the Thirty-One business opportunity. In 2011, Karen and her family hosted a nine year old Ukrainian orphan in their home for three weeks. They subsequently decided to adopt him, but they faced astronomical adoption fees. Karen began her Thirty-One career to help fundraise the expenses involved with bringing her boy home. Born with cleft lip/palate and fetal alcohol syndrome, he lived a very grim existance in the orphanage and was desperately in need of a loving family. The extra income from her work with Thirty-One helped to expedite the adoption process, and is still going toward paying off final adoption expenses. Her son, now ten years old, came home just under three weeks ago, and he has been a blessing to the Kochies family. You can read about their journey at www.hope4ruslan.blogspot.com

Cindy Monroe launched Thirty-One in the basement of her family home in Tennessee eight years ago. She had two employees at her side. Today, she has 1,500 employees and an Independent Consultant sales force nearly 40,000 strong. The goal was to provide affordable and fashionable products previously available only at exclusive boutiques that closed at 5 p.m. – too early for working women to shop there. The company’s name comes from Proverbs 31, which celebrates hard-working women who are compassionate, gracious and inspiring to their families and the people around them.
Thirty-One is more than a company that sells unique and on-trend purses, accessories and products that offer organizing solutions. It’s a company that changes lives. Thirty One’s mission is to Celebrate, Encourage and Reward women, and they have been blessed to see this mission played out through the years in the individual lives of so many women who now have their own “Thirty-One Story”. I have had the pleasure of knowing Karen personally for many years now. She was a very influential person in my son’s life as one of his first preschool teachers. Her passion for children, huge heart, honest character and her warm smile certainly set her apart in this world and I just know she’s destined for great things as a mompreneur. Seeing the highs and lows of her family’s adoption journey brought me to tears (happy and sad) on many occasions, but I know it was all worth it for them as they enjoy their new life as a family of 4. I know just about everyone knows a Thirty-One rep these days, but even so, I encourage you to think of Karen if you’d like to make a purchase, host a party, start a fundraiser or even start a business. She’s a rarity in this crazy world and you’d be fortunate to do business with her.
