WELCOME TO BAM WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
If you are wondering what the heck is BAM, it’s just our affectionate acronym for Business Among Moms – BAM! It’s fitting because the women we attract are full of awesomeness.
We host events that support and showcase mom entrepreneurs and help them build their network. We’d love to meet you and learn about your business.
WHERE AND WHEN ARE EVENTS?
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will find a welcoming group of women (most are moms, a few are not) that are here to get educated, share resources, encouragement and network. We encourage building relationships first, because people do business (and refer business) to those they know, like and trust. We don’t just sell to each other; we celebrate each other.
Small group discussion is followed by either a business speaker or our business showcases.
We know you’ll come away with a few great new connections!
While any woman in business is welcome to attend our events, members receive money-saving and business building benefits:
- Free/Discounted Event Attendance
- Private Facebook Group Membership to keep the networking going online
- Listing in our Business Directory
- Opportunity to showcase your business at a BAM event
- Feature of your business on our website (annual, lifetime membership)
Western Massachusetts Chapter Leader: Mary Ann Hanlon
Hi! I’m Mary Ann and I am so excited to be starting a new chapter for BAM in Western Massachusetts. I own and operate Mary Ann’s Dance and More, a dance apparel store in Easthampton, MA. We just moved to a larger location in August and also celebrated our 10th Anniversary in business!
Married since 1992 to my husband Rick, we have 2 children – Katelyn (23 yrs.) and Michael (8 yrs.). A graduate of Elms College with a Liberal Arts Degree, I started working in the hotel/restaurant industry in accounting, moving on to be an administrative assistant at a preparatory school in the Public Relations and Development Offices. After my daughter was born in 1994, I stayed at home and worked as an Avon Independent Sales Representative. I was also the leader of her girl scout troop and served as “Cookie Mom” for several years. As she reached school age, I worked as the Administrative Assistant at her elementary school. In 2007, I began working for a local dance studio as the office manager. That is where the inspiration to open the store came. In 2009, we completed MAP training and became foster parents to our son, Michael. I’ve served as past vice president and president of the Northeast Dance Retailers.
Opened since 2007, Mary Ann’s Dance and More offers customers dance supplies, including apparel and accessories, as well as novelty and gift items that all customers can enjoy. An active business in the community, Mary Ann’s Dance and More is recognized as a consistent sponsor of various local organizations. Mary Ann’s Dance and More was featured in the national dance retailer magazine, Dance Retailer News, as a “Retailer Spotlight”, twice on “Mass Appeal” on WWLP TV22 (the hour-long lifestyle program focusing on Western MA) and most recently in “Lifestyle/Balance Act” in Retail Minded.
As you can see, I am a woman of many talents, and I feel that is the best reason why I think starting this group will be a benefit for me and many more like me.
